 High spatial resolution imaging

The high resolution X-ray imaging system is based on a very thin YAG:Ce or LuAG:Ce single crystal imaging screens and the high sensitive CCD camera.

The imaging system can be used in many applications where very small details of imaged object should be observed:

  • Biology and medical - Small biological objects inner details imaging.
  • Electronics - Integrated circuits inspection.
  • Industrial - X-ray inspection of higly detailed parts.
  • Physics - Beam location and inspection

The examples of achieved high resolution images. The images were taken using a Cu anode tube X-ray source at 40kV.

Medical imaging - multipixel system for PET

Multipixel imaging system from YAP:Ce single crystal was developed in Crytur in 1993.
ISE company has developed a small animal PET/SPECT scanner on the base of this YAP pixel system.

The scanner has these characteristics:

  • Volume resolution in PET mode is 4.4 mm3 & CFOV using EM algorithm and 40-450 keV energy window.
  • Spatial resolution is SPECT mode is 3 mm FWHM in the transaxial plane using EM algorithm and 140-250 keV energy window.
  • Absolute sensitivity in PET mode is 19 cps/kBq & CFOV (50-850 keV) and 30 cps/MBq in SPECT mode.

 Detectors for electron microscopy

Detectors based on YAG:Ce crystal materials are widely used for detection of electrons in EM (electron microscopy). Crytur produce a range of detectors and detection units for BSE (Back Scatter Electrons) and SE (Secondary Electrons), which are used in SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). Another detectors from YAG:Ce and YAP:Ce are used in TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), STEM (Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy) and HAADF (High Angle Angular Dark Field). Applications of these detectors are various and include materials science, research and development, industry, biology and medical, semiconductor industry, education and many more.

 Special probes for temperature measurement

In the recent years, Crytur Ltd. has successfully developed probes for temperature measurements under very severe process conditions using specially designed sapphire protection caps.

Probe designs were always developed in a close co-operation with the customers and were tailored to suit their needs.

Our thermocouple probes are used under extreme pressures, at very high temperatures, with acidic feeds, or feeds rich in heavy metals, or in various melts up to 1500°C.
