Although significant part of the Crytur production originates from Czochralski crystal growth, EFG (Stepanov) became a key method to grow sapphire products. Fully automated pulling machines of the company own proprietary design guarantee perfectly twin and microbuble-free tubes. Automated process control allows achieving tolerances on diameter even less than 1 per cent, if required. Almost surgical process conditions results in a sapphire (=Al2O3) purity higher than 99,999%. The key feature is, however, protected design of a thermal knot guarantying perfect homogeneity of the grown material without any tension in the crystal.
Excellent properties and the strength of SapphiT – Tempered Sapphire without any internal defects can be documented for example by unmatchable strength or higher resistance to thermal shocks. Do you imagine, for example, that 1 mm thick sapphire wall can hold almost 2000 atmospheres of inside pressure (photo)?
