Crypix™ detector

Key characteristics
|
Only one device to fit many projects. Crypix™ detector is the best universal solution for both - detection and tracking of ionizing particles and real time radiation imaging. |
|
Crypix™ is ready to use right after unpacking. Simply plug it in via USB, install the software and you are ready to go. |
|
Crypix™ detectors come with a preset minimum energy threshold of 3-5 keV. High quality images are inherently free of dark current and noise. |
|
Small, simple handheld device enclosed in a durable chassis. Detector chip is protected with a shutter to prevent damage caused by manipulation.
|
|
Save precious time and maintain full control over your experiment. Images are taken, transfered and displayed on your PC at a frame rate up to 100 frames per second (fps). |
PARTICLE TRACKING AND RADIATION MONITORING
The Crypix™ detector recognizes ionizing particles or photons with energies higher than the preset threshold of 3-5 keV. Not only can you detect a single particle but you can also simply distinguish which particle it is directly from the image.

RADIATION IMAGING
The Crypix™ detector enables capturing high resolution x-ray or neutron digital radiography directly on your laptop with high resolution resulting from the 55 µm pitch of the detector chip. Color radiagraphy is also available with appropriate imaging software.

CRYPIX™ utilises a unique chip architecture based on Medipix2/Timepix technology, which was developed by international collaboration of 17 research institutes and 75 scientists at CERN, Switzerland.
The Medipix2/Timepix ASIC is a high spatial, high contrast resolving CMOS pixel read-out that is coupled with a silicon sensor. Incoming radiation is directly converted into detectable electric signal and further processed by the electronics.
The single chip detector consists of an array of 256 x 256 identical pixel elements sensor with a 55 micron pitch. Each pixel works in a single photon counting mode with a user-defined energy threshold to provide high quality images that are inherently free of dark current and noise.
Modes of operation Each pixel can be separately calibrated to operate in one of the following modes: |
---|
The counter is incremented by 1 count for each particle/photon detected above a user defined threshold. Up to 100 000 cps/px result in maximum of 6.5 billion cps. |
The counter is incremented continuously as long as the signal generated by incident radiation exceeds a defined threshold. |
The counter is incremented continuously from the time the first particle arrives to the end of the shutter (one value per pixel) to provide timing information useful in tracking applications. |
